Demonstration Programs

Intro

Making a start on that very first program is often the most daunting task, especially for the inexperienced or if it is a completely new version of the software. Examples that can be studied and cannibalised can then be a big help.A good example program (Vesper7) and an excellent Tutorial are already available from either Ken Mayer or Gary White's sites on the dBASE WebRing shown on our Home Page.

However something even simpler has its place too and we want to include a few of these. Several are now in preparation so watch this space! One is virtually ready but has all the user's confidential data. Replacing this with fiction is a slow and tedious task!

Another initial problem can be how best to lay out a form neatly. Four such forms are illustrated below. We now need a few examples to be submitted. Don't be put off if you think yours is terrible, we could always show it in a How not to! section.

Use a fun picture to make an otherwise ordinary form more memorable.

Use a background to brighten a long list of boring report option buttons (and it was for a Travel Co.)

By the way, a little challenge for anyone interested. Replace all the buttons with sun loungers and the progress bar with a tide that washes in and covers those loungers!

Use all the space! (Click on thumbnail for full picture)
